Christians
Represent on American Idol

“I
want non-believers to know that God loves them, Jesus died for them,
and that God has a plan for their life. I want them to see and hear
that being a Christian and singing about it isn't weird!”

Phil Stacey
is a music minister
and pastor's son

"We certainly hope he
does well," Rev. Stacey said. "Someone was congratulating me for
having a son in American Idol and I told them we had no interest in
raising an American Idol. Our hope was to help him to be someone who
loved the Lord, is a faithful husband and a good father. This
(appearance on AI) is a door of opportunity where he may glorify God
with his life and his gifts. We certainly would request prayer for
him and his family. This is an exhausting ordeal. The hope is that
someone might be pointed
to Jesus by this effort."

American Idol 2007 Jordin Sparks

Congratulations
to Jordin
The Finale was not quite as
impressive as last season,
but there were several
moments.
Melinda Doolittle performed together with BeBe &
CeCe Winans. She used to
be their backup singer.
The top 6 male singers performed an acapella song,
arrangement by Take6.
Four of the previous five American Idol winners perfomed,
then did a salute to the
Beatles' Sgt.
Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club
Band album.
Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Ruben Studdard and
Taylor Hicks were
together for the first time.
All that was missing was
Fantasia, who is performing
in "The Color Purple"
on Broadway.
We have enjoyed following outspoken Christians
who were on the show.
Chris Sligh made it to #10 and will be on the tour
this summer. Stephanie
Edwards from Savannah
was next at #9.
Phil Stacey left at #6 and Lakisha Jones got to the
Final Four.
And three of the Final Four were open about their
faith...Melinda Doolitle,
Jordin Sparks and LaKisha
Jones, all pictured below.
We have stories of each elsewhere on this page.
